Thammudu Movie Review: Misses the Mark Despite Strong Performances

 Rating: ★★½ (2.5/5)

Cast: Nithiin, Varsha Bollamma, Sapthami Gowda, Laya
Director: Venu Sriram
Producer: Dil Raju
Music: Ajaneesh Loknath
Release Date: July 4, 2025

The Story:
A factory blast in Vizag triggers a legal war. While corrupt forces try to suppress the truth, honest officer Jhansi (Laya) stands her ground. But things take a deadly turn during a pilgrimage to Ambaragodugu. Enter Jai (Nithiin), a mysterious archer who saves her family. But who is he, and what secrets connect him to Jhansi and the case?

What Works:

  • Varsha Bollamma shines with a balanced mix of emotion and action.

  • Laya, as the upright officer, is composed and dignified.

  • Some early action sequences and Swasika’s brief role add small sparks.

What Doesn’t:

  • The plot feels stale, offering little that’s new or engaging.

  • Nithiin’s archer persona is underdeveloped and lacks punch.

  • Supporting characters like Azarwal and Ratna are flat and forgettable.

  • The second half is slow, repetitive, and emotionally hollow.

  • Music and visuals are functional but forgettable.

Verdict:
Thammudu starts with promise but loses steam quickly. Despite sincere performances from Varsha and Laya, the weak script and sluggish pacing make it a dull affair. A forgettable outing for Nithiin and Dil Raju. Better options await this weekend.

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s ‘Vishwambhara’ Gearing Up for a Grand Musical Launch at Hanuman Idol in Paritala?

Megastar Chiranjeevi is all set to return to the big screen with his upcoming socio-fantasy film Vishwambhara, directed by Bimbisara fame Vassishta Mallidi. The film is currently creating a strong buzz across social media, especially with reports hinting at a major update around the corner.

While an official release date is yet to be confirmed, Vishwambhara is expected to hit theatres on July 24, 2025—a date that holds sentimental value for fans as it marks the anniversary of Chiranjeevi’s blockbuster Indra (2002).

Adding fuel to the excitement, sources suggest that the film’s first single is likely to be unveiled in a grand event at the iconic Hanuman idol in Paritala, near Vijayawada. Known as the world’s second tallest Hanuman statue, the location is expected to witness a massive gathering of fans on April 12, 2025—if the buzz is true. However, we’re still waiting for an official confirmation from the makers.

The film features Trisha Krishnan as the female lead, reuniting with Chiranjeevi after many years. Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor plays the antagonist, while Ashika Ranganath, Esha Chawla, and others take on key roles. Produced by UV Creations, Vishwambhara has music composed by MM Keeravaani, promising a rich musical experience.

Robinhood Movie Review: A Heist Comedy with Fun Moments but Inconsistent Execution

Robinhood nithin Telugu Movie Review and rating

Movie Name: Robinhood
Release Date: March 28, 2025
Starring: Nithiin, Sreeleela & Others
Director: Venky Kudumula
Producers: Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar
Music Director: GV Prakash Kumar
Cinematographer: Sai Sriram
Editor: Koti

Director Venky Kudumula, known for his signature blend of humor and action, brings Robinhood to the big screen, starring Nithiin and Sreeleela in key roles. With a mix of comedy, action, and a heist backdrop, does the film live up to expectations? Let's dive into the review.

Story:

Ram (Nithiin) grows up as an orphan and learns the art of robbing the rich to help the poor. His acts of generosity make him a modern-day Robinhood. Meanwhile, a ruthless villain (Devadatta Nage) plans to expand his illegal marijuana business globally, with a special focus on the rare marijuana cultivated in Rudrakonda village. Reena Vasudev (Sreeleela), daughter of a pharmaceutical company owner, enters the scene and unexpectedly becomes involved in this high-stakes situation. How Ram gets entangled in the villain’s plans, and the role of international drug lord David (David Warner), forms the crux of the story.

Plus Points:

✔️ Venky Kudumula’s comedic style is evident throughout the movie. The first half, in particular, is packed with humorous moments that land well.
✔️ Nithiin delivers a stylish and controlled performance, excelling in both action sequences and comedic timing. His chemistry with Sreeleela adds to the film’s appeal.
✔️ Sreeleela impresses with her charming screen presence and comic timing, making her role lively.
✔️ Devadatta Nage’s portrayal of the villain is intense, adding depth to the film. However, his impact weakens in the later parts of the story.
✔️ Vennela Kishore and Rajendra Prasad bring in additional comedy relief, which works well in many scenes.
✔️ A surprise element in the form of Australian cricketer David Warner adds a fresh touch to the movie. His performance, with a hint of humor and menace, is entertaining.

Minus Points:

❌ While the humor is a highlight in the first half, it gradually fades in the second half, making the narrative lose its charm.
❌ The screenplay, though entertaining at times, becomes sluggish in the latter part of the film. The absence of key supporting characters for long stretches weakens the impact.
❌ The villain, who is established as powerful in the beginning, feels underutilized towards the climax, making the conflict less gripping.
❌ Two songs feel misplaced and slow down the momentum. Their removal or better placement could have helped maintain the pace.
❌ Some visual effects, especially in action sequences, appear subpar, affecting the overall cinematic experience.

Technical Aspects:

🎬 Venky Kudumula once again proves his flair for entertainment. While the film excels in humor, the pacing and screenplay could have been tighter.
🎵 GV Prakash Kumar’s background score enhances the film’s mood, but the songs fail to leave a lasting impact.
📷 Cinematography by Sai Sriram is decent, capturing the film’s stylish and action-packed visuals well.
✂️ Editing by Koti could have been sharper, especially in the second half where the film loses momentum.

Verdict:

Robinhood delivers a mix of humor, action, and entertainment, making it a decent watch. Nithiin’s performance, Venky Kudumula’s humor, and engaging moments in the first half work in the film’s favor. However, the inconsistent screenplay, weak cli

max, and pacing issues prevent it from reaching its full potential. If you’re looking for a lighthearted entertainer with comedy and stylish action, Robinhood is worth a one-time watch.

MAD Square Movie Review: A Fun-Filled Sequel with Mixed Results

 Movie Name: MAD Square

Mad square review and rating

Release Date: March 28, 2025
Starring: Narne Nithin, Sangeeth Shobhan, Ram Nithin, Priyanka Jawalkar
Director: Kalyan Shankar
Producers: Haarika Suryadevara & Sai Soujanya
Music Director: Bheems Ceciroleo
Cinematographer: Shamdat (ISC)
Editor: Navin Nooli

After the success of MAD (2023), the much-awaited sequel MAD Square has finally hit the screens. This coming-of-age comedy promises loads of fun and chaos, but does it live up to expectations? Let’s find out.

Story:

Laddu (Vishnu Oi) finds himself in Tihar Central Jail, where his intimidating presence sparks curiosity among fellow inmates. When asked about his past, he unfolds a hilarious yet unfortunate tale. His three close friends—Manoj (Ram Nithin), Ashok (Narne Nithiin), and Damodhar (Sangeeth Shobhan)—accidentally turn his wedding into a complete disaster. What follows is a chaotic chain of events involving unexpected twists, more characters, and a rollercoaster of comedy and confusion. How Laddu ended up in jail forms the crux of the story.

Plus Points:

✔️ MAD Square sticks to its strength—comedy. While the storyline is light, the film delivers plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.
✔️ The chemistry between the three leads—Sangeeth Shobhan, Narne Nithiin, and Ram Nithin—keeps the humor intact. Their performances add energy to the film.
✔️ Vishnu Oi steals the show with his effortless comedic timing, making Laddu’s misfortunes amusing for the audience.
✔️ Muralidhar Goud, who plays Laddu’s father, is another highlight, bringing extra laughs with his witty dialogues.
✔️ The wedding sequences in the first half are well-executed, offering some of the film’s best comedy moments.

Minus Points:

❌ While the film is primarily comedy-driven, the humor is inconsistent. Some jokes land well, while others feel forced.
❌ The second half lacks the same energy as the first, making it less engaging.
❌ Sunil’s character, Bhai, doesn’t make much of an impact. Apart from a few scenes with Muralidhar Goud, his role feels underutilized.
❌ Supporting characters like Antony and Satyam Rajesh had potential but aren’t given enough screen time to shine.
❌ Unlike its predecessor, MAD Square lacks strong, memorable songs and an engaging love track.

Technical Aspects:

🎬 Director Kalyan Shankar succeeds in delivering a fun film, but a stronger script and better pacing could have enhanced the experience.
🎵 The background score is decent, but apart from the Swathi Reddy song, the music is forgettable.
📷 Cinematography is adequate, capturing the film’s vibrant tone. Production values are good, maintaining a rich visual appeal.
✂️ Editing could have been sharper, especially in the second half, to keep the momentum going.

Verdict:

MAD Square is a decent comedy entertainer that thrives on its fun moments and energetic performances, especially from Vishnu Oi and Muralidhar Goud. However, the film struggles with inconsistent humor, a weaker second half, and underutilized supporting characters. If you’re in the mood for a lighthearted comedy, MAD Square is worth a one-time watch. Just don’t expect it to be as impactful as its predecessor.
